DAMN, I miss anime made with heart like this one! Back when fathers used to be respected for being cool and caring. Now they are viewed as sex perverts who sleep with their daughters! So disrespectful for these grandiose days of glory!

I have a feeling his father now will retire from boxing and fool Genki into training to become a boxer in his stead, which is quite sad. I wanted to see the both boxing as father and son and maybe even have an honourable match when Genki grows older, but oh well... to ideal I guess :')

Not going to lie, would love a modern remastered version of that intro song. It's really catchy. This is a wholesome anime, a anime that puts respects on a loving and proud father who cares more about raising his son than a boxing career and boy who looks up to his dad as inspiration.. Not just the well loved and cherished momma like nowadays.

A 5 year old kid chiding his father for.. not flirting? lol suspend disbelief a little.
Not bad at all, overall. The production is pretty nice for 1980. The 70s had just ended, think about that.
